A JAL Japan Airlines Boeing 787-8, registration JA836J performing flight JL-65 from San Diego,CA (USA) to Tokyo Narita (Japan), had departed Terminal 2 West and was taxiing for departure from runway 27, was advised to expect backtracking the runway and was cleared to taxi along taxiway B and hold short of the runway at B8 but missed the turn onto taxiway B, continued straight onto B10 and went past the hold short line.

A Delta Airlines Bombardier C-Series CS-300, registration N301DU performing flight DL-2287 from Seattle,WA to San Diego,CA (USA), was on final approach to runway 09 and was instructed to go around as result of the runway incursion. The aircraft landed safely about 15 minutes later.

The Japanese Crew, told to hold position when the controller noticed the conflict, apologized. The Dreamliner departed about one hour later.

Japan's Ministry of Transport reported the JAL aircraft entered a wrong taxiway. The pilot told them that he noticed something was odd, at the same time the controller alerted them, however, the aircraft had already gone past the hold short line.
