A Jazz de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration C-GGNW performing flight QK-8262 from Nanaimo,BC to Vancouver,BC (Canada) with 61 passengers and 4 crew, was climbing through about 2500 feet MSL out of Nanaimo when an eagle struck the aircraft just below the captain's windshield. The crew advised ATC about the bird strike and the decision to continue to Vancouver at a reduced speed. Upon arrival into Vancouver the crew requested emergency services on stand by as a precaution. The aircraft landed safely on runway 26R about 20 minutes after departure from Nanaimo.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance found a dent below the captain's windshield, consulted with technical department and the manufacturer and released the aircraft to service with additional inspection criteria.
