A Jazz Embraer ERJ-175, registration C-FRQW performing flight QK-8944 from Montreal,QC (Canada) to Newark,NJ (USA) with 44 people on board, was climbing through 16000 feet out of Montreal when the crew felt hypoxia and noticed the cabin altitude neither increased nor dropped. As a precaution the crew donned their oxygen masks, descended the aircraft to 9000 feet and returned to Montreal, however needed to go around from low height on final approach to runway 24L. The aircraft subsequently landed safely on runway 24L about 15 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported the crew did not declare emergency or request priority. Maintenance did not find any fault causing the occurrence.
