A Jazz de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration C-GGMZ performing flight
QK-8201 from Toronto,ON to Sault Ste. Marie,ON (Canada) with 39 passengers and 4 crew, was climbing out of Toronto when at about 14,000 feet the crew received indication the left hand propeller was overspeeding. The crew worked the related checklists and shut the left engine (PW150A) down. The aircraft returned to Toronto for a safe landing on runway 23 about 50 minutes after departure.
The Canadian TSB reported maintenance replaced the #1 pitch control unit.
