An Air Kasai Antonov-AN-26B, registration 9S-AYN performing a flight from Goma to Kongolo (DR Congo) with 5 crew, landed at Kongolo Airstrip but suffered the collapse of the right hand main gear followed by a runway excursion. The aircraft came to a stop on soft ground, the right hand engine (AI24VT) caught fire. There are no reports of injuries.
On Feb 25th 2025 DR Congo's BPEA reported the right hand engine failed after touch down causing the aircraft to veer off the runway, after leaving the runway the right hand main gear collapsed, the aircraft rolled to the right causing the right hand engine to catch fire. The 5 crew on board were not injured. The BPEA is investigating the accident.
