A LATAM Peru Airbus A320-200, registration CC-BFS performing flight
LA-2302 from Lima to Piura (Peru), was lining up runway 16R when the left hand engine emitted continuous fire. The aircraft stopped, the runway was closed.
The airline reported the aircraft suffered an unforeseen technical incident, the passengers were disembarked as a precaution. The passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
A replacement A320-200 registration CC-BFR reached Piura with a delay of about 4 hours.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Lima about 10 hours later.
