A Loganair Embraer ERJ-145, registration G-SAJH performing flight
LM-26 from Manchester,EN to Aberdeen,SC (UK), was climbing out of Manchester when the crew stopped the climb at FL170 and decided to return to Manchester after the aircraft received a lightning strike. The aircraft returned to Manchester for a safe landing about 40 minutes after departure.
The airline confirmed the aircraft received a lightning strike and returned to Manchester for a normal landing.
Later the airline released a photo of the captain's windshield that cracked as result of the lightning strike.
