A Lufthansa Airbus A321-200, registration D-AISB performing flight
LH-1170 from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Lisbon (Portugal) with 198 passengers and 6 crew, was enroute at FL350 about 70nm northeast of Lyon (France) when the crew decided to divert to Lyon. The aircraft landed safely on Lyon's runway 17L about 25 minutes later.
The airline reported passenger's power bank overheated and caught fire in a seat. Cabin crew secured the device into a Lithium Safe Bag. The crew decided to divert to Lyon as a precaution. The passengers were taken to hotels and rebooked onto other flight the following day.
The aircraft remained on the ground in Lyon for about 16 hours, then positioned back to Frankfurt.
