A Mesa Airlines Embraer ERJ-175 on behalf of United, registration N87360 performing flight
UA-6309 from Houston Intercontinental,TX to El Paso,TX (USA) with 72 people on board, was climbing out of Houston's runway 15R when the crew stopped the climb at about 13,000 feet reporting the right hand windshield had shattered, not just one layer, glass pieces were falling into the cockpit. The aircraft returned to Houston for a safe landing on runway 09 about 35 minutes after departure.
The airline reported the first officer's windshield shattered, however, there was no loss of pressurization.
A replacement Embraer ERJ-175 registration N87339 reached El Paso with a delay of about 4 hours.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Houston about 23 hours after landing.
