A Nolinor Aviation Boeing 737-200, registration C-GNLW performing flight N5-951 from Meadowbank,NU to Churchill,MB (Canada) with 64 people on board, was in the initial climb out of Meadowbank [CMB2] when the crew received an amber oil filter bypass indication for the left hand engine (JT8D). The Canadian TSB reported maintenance determined the engine's magnetic chip plugs and the oil filter were contaminated with metal particles. The chip plugs were cleaned, the filter replaced according to the maintenance manual. After a ground run the aircraft continued to Montreal Mirabel,QC (Canada), where the engine (about 164 hours after overhaul) will be replaced.
