A PIA Pakistan International Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration AP-BLS performing flight
PK-260 from Muscat (Oman) to Peshawar (Pakistan), was enroute at FL370 about 210nm northwest of Karachi (Pakistan) when the crew decided to divert to Karachi due to the loss of cabin pressure. The aircraft landed safely on Karachi's runway 25L about 55 minutes later.
The airline reported the aircraft diverted to Karachi due a technical malfunction. As there are no PIA flights between Karachi and Peshawar, the passenger were booked onto a flight to Islamabad (about 80nm east of Peshawar).
Initial information had indicated a hydraulic failure had occurred.
On Oct 6th 2024 Pakistan's AIB reported the aircraft lost cabin pressure and diverted to Karachi. No assistance was needed upon arrival. The occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Karachi about 9 hours after landing.
