A Piedmont Airlines Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N660CL performing flight
AA-5802 from Charlotte,NC to Evansville,IN (USA) with 30 passengers and 3 crew, was climbing out of Charlotte's runway 18C when the aircraft sustained a lightning strike. In the absence of any abnormal indications the crew continued the flight, climbed to FL360 enroute and landed safely on Evansville's runway 22 about 65 minutes after departure.
The FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT WAS STRUCK BY LIGHTENING AND POST FLIGHT INSPECTION REVEALED DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT WING, EVANSVILLE, IN" and stated, that the lightning strike occurred during initial climb, the damage was minor.
The aircraft is still on the ground in Evansville about 77 hours (3 days 5 hours) after landing.
