A Polar Air Cargo Boeing 747-8 freighter, registration N858GT performing flight PO-989 from Tokyo Narita (Japan) to Singapore (Singapore) with 4 crew, was enroute at FL400 over the Philippine Sea about 700nm southsouthwest of Tokyo when the crew decided to return to Tokyo reporting a hydraulic failure. The aircraft landed safely back on Narita's runway 16R about 100 minutes later.
The aircraft is still on the ground in Tokyo about 9 hours after landing back.
