An Alliance Airlines Embraer ERJ-190 on behalf of Qantas, registration VH-XVU performing flight QF-1889 from Darwin,NT to Cairns,QL (Australia), had just levelled off at FL310 out of Darwin when the crew initiated an emergency descent to FL100 due to the loss of cabin pressure. The aircraft returned to Darwin for a safe landing on runway 11 about 75 minutes after departure.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 57 hours, then departed for a test flight but has not yet returned to service about 12 hours after landing of the test flight.
