A Republic Airways Embraer ERJ-170 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N855RW performing flight AA-4601 from New York La Guardia,NY to Portland,ME (USA), was on approach to Portland descending through 11000 feet when the crew stopped the descent and decided to divert to Boston reporting a problem with the flaps, they would need to land at a higher than normal speed. The aircraft landed safely on Boston's runway 33L about 35 minutes after aborting the approach to Portland.

The FAA reported: "Republic Airlines Flight 4601 landed safely at Boston Logan International Airport, around 10:20 p.m. local time on Sunday, April 6, after the crew reported a possible mechanical issue. The Embraer E170 departed LaGuardia Airport in New York and was headed to Portland International Airport in Maine. The FAA will investigate."
