A Rwandair Airbus A330-300, registration 9XR-WP performing flight WB-9111 from Nacala (Mozambique) to Kigali (Rwanda), departed Nacala, climbed to FL380 enroute and was descending towards Kigali when the crew received information via ACARS, that one of its tyres had been damaged on departure from Nacala. The crew requested to stop on Kigali's runway after landing, continued for a safe landing on runway 28 and stopped on the runway. About 20 minutes after landing the aircraft vacated the runway.
Rwanda's AIB reported the number 8 tyre was found damaged and its outer surface worn, rated the damage minor, rated the occurrence a serious incident and opened an investigation.
The aircraft remained on the ground until Jun 4th 2024, positioned to Doha (Qatar), remained on the ground in Doha until Jun 11th 2024, positioned back to Kigali and resumed service on Jun 12th 2024.
