A Salaam Air/Renegade Air Fokker 70, registration 5Y-MMB performing a flight from an unknown origin to Nairobi Wilson (Kenya), landed on Wilson Airport's runway 32 and was turning off the runway when the aircraft went off paved surface with its nose gear coming to a stop with the nose gear sunk into soft ground. There were no injuries, the aircraft received minor if any damage.

Kenya's Civil Aviation Authority stated that the aircraft suffered a runway excursion while attempting to turn on the runway after landing, it was not a runway overrun (editorial note: as local sources claim).

Kenya's AAID released their investigation report summarizing the sequence of events:

The aircraft had taken off from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 0639 (0939) for a repositioning flight to Wilson Airport and touched down on runway 07 (RWY 07) of Wilson airport Airport at 0649 (0949). During the 180° turn to backtrack, the aircraft’s nose landing gear veered off to the right of runway 25 and got stuck in the soft, muddy ground.

The report concludes the probable cause of the incident was:

The probable cause of the incident was the crew’s misjudgment of the required turn radius to complete a turnaround on the runway, resulting in the aircraft being partially displaced off the runway into terrain unsuitable for its further movement.
