A Sichuan Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration B-1886 performing flight 3U-6960 from Zhoushan to Dazhou (China), was climbing out of Zhoushan when the crew stopped the climb at about 3000 meters (10,000 feet) due to the failure of one of their engines (CFM56). The crew shut the engine down and diverted to Ningbo for a safe landing on runway 31.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration B-1820 reached Dazhou with a delay of about 5:15 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Ningbo about 40 hours after landing.
