A Smartwings Boeing 737-800, registration HA-LKG performing flight QS-1446 from Brno (Czech Republic) to Marsa Alam (Egypt), was on approach to Marsa Alam's runway 33 when the crew received a wheel well fire indication and declared Mayday. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on runway 33, attending emergency services did not find any trace of fire, heat or smoke. THe indication extinguished and the aircraft continued to taxi to the apron, when the fire indication activated again. The crew stopped, shut both engines down and requested another inspection by emergency services, which again did not reveal any indication of fire, heat or smoke.

Czechia's UZPLN reported maintenance released the aircraft under minimum equipment list requirements. The following day maintenance found a problem with the wheel well overheat detector, replaced the detector and cancelled the minimum equipment list requirements.

On May 24th 2024 the aircraft suffered the same problem again, see Incident: Smartwings B738 at Brno on May 24th 2024, wheel well fire indication.
