A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N8646B performing flight WN-353 from Los Angeles,CA to Reno,NV (USA) with 140 people on board, was climbing out of Los Angeles when the crew stopped the climb at FL280 and decided to divert to Fresno,CA (USA) reporting an engine (CFM56) performance issue. The aircraft landed safely on runway 29R about 25 minutes later.

The airline reported the crew performed a precautionary diversion due to engine performance issues.

A replacement Boeing 737-8 MAX registration N8729H reached Reno with a delay of 4.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Fresno about 46 hours after landing.
