Accident: StarSky F50 at Mogadishu on Feb 10th 2026

A StarSky Fokker 50, registration 6O-YAS performing a flight from Mogadishu (Somalia) to Galkayo (Puntland) with 55 people on board, was climbing out of Mogadishu when the crew encountered a technical problem and decided to return to Mogadishu. The crew lost control of the aircraft after landing, overran runway 23, went down a cliff and came to a stop at the beach. There were no injuries reported, however, the aircraft suffered substantial damage.
Somalia's CAA reported the aircraft returned for an emergency landing due to a technical malfunction, during roll out the crew lost control of the aircraft, which went down a cliff and came to rest at the sea level. An investigation has been opened.
On Sep 30th 2026 the Dutch Onderzoeksraad (DSB) reported the torque of the left engine (PW125B) dropped to zero, the crew shut the engine down. The aircraft returned to Mogadishu for a landing on runway 23 in gusty conditions, despite application of brakes and reverse thrust the aircraft overran the runway and sustained substantial damage.
