A Transavia Boeing 737-800, registration PH-HZV performing flight
HV-5503 from Rotterdam (Netherlands) to Faro (Portugal), had reached the top of descent at FL370 and was in the initial descent when the cabin pressure was lost and the passenger oxygen masks were released. The crew initiated an emergency descent to FL080 levelling off at FL080 about 5 minutes later and continued for a safe landing on Faro's runway 28 about 30 minutes after leaving FL370.
The aircraft's next scheduled flight HV-5516 from Faro to Eindhoven (Netherlands) was cancelled.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Faro about 53 hours after landing in Faro.
The airline reported the aircraft experienced a loss of cabin pressure when the aircraft started the descent towards Faro, the passenger oxygen masks were released. The crew accelerated the descent and landed safely in Faro.
