UA-16 from Newark,NJ (USA) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was climbing out of Newark when the crew requested to level off at FL310 to work on an ongoing issue, subsequently declared emergency and requested to return to Newark due to a loud squeal on the flight deck. The aircraft landed safely on runway 22R about 50 minutes after departure.
The aircraft returned to service about 23 hours after landing back.
