UA-938 (dep Sep 20th) from Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) to London Heathrow,EN (UK) with 173 people on board, was enroute at FL370 about 280nm west of Shannon (Ireland) when the crew decided to divert to Shannon due to problems with the left hand engine (PW4060). The crew subsequently declared Mayday and continued for a safe landing on Shannon's runway 24 about 45 minutes later.
The aircraft is still on the ground in Shannon about 5.5 hours after landing.
