A UPS United Parcel Service Boeing 747-400 freighter, registration N583UP performing flight 5X-509 from Anchorage,AK to Louisville,KY (USA) with 2 passenger and 2 crew, was enroute at FL350 about 64nm east of Dease Lake Aerodrome,BC (Canada) when the crew received indication of zero oil quantity remaining for engine #4 (CF6, outboard right hand). Subsequently the oil pressure decreased and after fluctuating between 10 and 13 psi fell below the limit (10 psi). The crew declared PAN PAN, worked the related checklist and shut the engine down. The aircraft continued to Louisville at FL330 for a safe landing.
The Canadian TSB reported: "Post flight inspection revealed oil pooled in the exhaust area of the No.4 engine. The engine was replaced."
