A UPS United Parcel Service Boeing 767-300 freighter, registration N314UP performing flight 5X-167 from Singapore (Singapore) to Hong Kong (China), was taxiing for departure from runway 20C when the aircraft failed to stop ahead of the holding point runway 20C and entered the runway. The aircraft subsequently turned off the runway onto a taxiway.

At that time an ANZ Air New Zealand Boeing 777-300, registration ZK-OKS performing flight NZ-281 from Singapore (Singapore) to Auckland (New Zealand), was departing from runway 20C and continued the flight to Auckland without further incident.

5X-167 departed about 25 minutes after vacating runway 20C.

Singapore's TAIC opened an investigation into the occurrence.
