A Virgin Atlantic Boeing 787-9, registration G-VNEW performing flight
VS-77 from Manchester,EN (UK) to Bridgetown (Barbados), was enroute at FL400 over the Atlantic Ocean about 530nm north of the Azores Islands (Portugal) when the crew initiated a decent to FL100, turned the aircraft around and are currently on the way back to divert to London Heathrow,EN (UK).
The airline reported: "Our flight, the VS77 from Manchester to Barbados has returned to Heathrow due to an issue inflight."
By Aug 18th 2021 The Aviation Herald received multiple passenger reports (including one in the comments below) stating the crew indicated the outer pane of one of the windshields had shattered.
