An Aerolineas Argentinas Boeing 737-800, registration LV-FXQ performing flight AR-1516 from Cordoba,CD to Salta,SA (Argentina) with 107 passengers on board, had just levelled off at FL360 after climbing out of Cordoba, when the crew initiated an emergency descent due to the loss of cabin pressure and returned to Cordoba for a safe landing about 45 minutes after departure. A number of passengers complained about ear pain and were taken to hospitals by ambulances.

Local Authorities reported 54 passengers reported either being injured (with ear pain) or suffering from nerveous break downs, none of the injuries was serious however.

Passengers reported feeling excruciating pain in their ears.

The airline reported 6 passengers with different symptoms like panic, pressure or ear pain were treated, none of them needed to be moved.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration LV-GVB reached Salta with a delay of 6:15 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Cordoba about 48 hours after landing back.
