An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-9 MAX, registration N919AK performing flight
AS-369 from Nashville,TN to Seattle,WA (USA) with 160 passengers and 16 crew, received takeoff clearance from Nashville's runway 13, acknowledged the clearance, and commenced takeoff at high speed (about 100 knots over ground) but needed to reject takeoff about a minute after receiving the clearance when another aircraft crossed the runway. While taxiing towards the gate a number of tyres deflated disabling the aircraft on the apron.
A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700, registration N225WN performing flight WN-2029 from Nashville,TN to Jacksonville,FL (USA) with 136 passengers and 5 crew, was taxiing for departure from runway 20C when the aircraft received clearance to cross runway 13 at taxiway T5 and crossed the runway prompting the rejected takeoff of N919AK.
The FAA said, WN-2029 was cleared to cross the runway at the end.
Alaska Airlines said their flight 369 had to reject takeoff due to a potential traffic conflict on the runway. The aircraft was able to clear the runway and taxied to close the terminal, where the passengers disembarked and returned to the terminal.
The NTSB said, they are investigating a runway incursion at Nashville involving
AS-369 and WN-2029.
On Oct 11th 2024 the NTSB released their preliminary report summarizing the sequence of events:
The following timeline was constructed from certified ATC audio re-recordings and automatic dependent surveillance- broadcast (ADS-B) data provided by the FAA. All times are in CDT.

Passengers were deplaned via air stairs on the ramp. SWA2029 taxied to runway 20C, received takeoff clearance and departed BNA for JAX.
The FDR and CVR were retrieved from the Alaska Airlines airplane, and the FDR was retrieved from the Southwest Airlines airplane. The CVR from the Southwest Airlines airplane had been overwritten. All the recorders were sent to the NTSB Vehicle Recorder Laboratory, and data has been retrieved from all the recorders. The Operations Group will be performing interviews of both flight crews involved in the incursion.
The investigation continues.
