A Delta Airlines Airbus A319-100, registration N360NB performing flight DL-478 from Washington National,DC to Atlanta,GA (USA) with 136 people on board, was climbing out of National's runway 01 when the crew stopped the climb at 17000 feet reporting they had smoke or fumes on the flight deck. The aircraft diverted to Washington's Dulles Airport for a safe landing on runway 19R about 25 minutes after departure.

The remainder of the flight was cancelled.
