A Delta Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration N382DN performing flight
DL-1181 from Fort Lauderdale,FL to New York La Guardia,NY (USA), was on short final to La Guardia's runway 22 when the crew initiated a go around, however, the aircraft's tail contacted the runway surface. The aircraft climbed to 4000 feet, positioned for another approach and landed on runway 22 without further incident about 13 minutes after the go around. There were no injuries, the aircraft sustained substantial damage.
The NTSB opened an investigation into the occurrence rated an accident.
