A Delta Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N399DA performing flight DL-1399 from Miami,FL to Boston,MA (USA) with 152 people on board, was climbing out of runway 08R when the crew reported a bird strike, they needed to reduce their right hand engine (CFM56) to idle thrust as result. The aircraft stopped the climb at 4000 feet and returned to Miami for a safe landing on runway 09 about 25 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration N386DA reached Boston with a delay of about 2:45 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Miami 3 days (72 hours) later.
