A Delta Airlines Bombardier C-Series CS-300, registration N311DU performing flight
DL-928 from Seattle,WA to Anchorage,AK (USA) with 136 people on board, was enroute at FL320 about 120nm northwest of Vancouver,BC (Canada) when the crew decided to divert to Vancouver due to a vape-pen or cigarette like odour coming from the aft lavatories. Subsequently cabin crew reported passengers and cabin crew were affected by the odour, the flight crew declared emergency and requested medical assistance available on landing. The aircraft landed safely on Vancouver's runway 08L about 35 minutes later.
The Canadian TSB reported: "Maintenance conducted an inspection and found an odour emitting from the water mixer/heater in the left aft lavatory. The repair was deferred as per the minimum equipment list. Maintenance subsequently replaced the affected water mixer/heater."
The aircraft remained on the ground for about 17 hours before returning to service.
