An Intercaribbean Airways Avions de Transport Regional ATR-42-500, registration VQ-TRS performing flight
JY-634 from Antigua (Antigua) to Beef Island (British Virgin Islands) with 36 people on board, was climbing out of Antigua's runway 07 when the crew stopped the climb at 2500 feet due to the left hand engine (PW121) having failed. The crew shut the engine down and returned to Antigua for a safe landing on runway 07 about 15 minutes after departure.
The flight was cancelled.
The aircraft is still on the ground in Antigua about 48 hours after landing back.
