A JAL Japan Airlines Boeing 787-8, registration JA843J performing flight
JL-774 from Melbourne,VI (Australia) to Tokyo Narita (Japan) with 146 passengers and 11 crew, was descending through about FL170 towards Tokyo when the aircraft encountered severe turbulence causing injuries to 4 flight attendants. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Narita's runway 16L about 35 minutes later.
Japan's Ministry of Transport reported one flight attendant received a fracture of the lower right thigh, 3 others received sprains. The JTSB is investigating the occurrence.
On Apr 4th 2024 the JTSB reported the aircraft became unstable while descending through 5200 meters about 150km southeast of Narita Airport. One flight attendant sustained serious, three minor injuries. The JTSB opened an investigation.
