A Jazz Embraer ERJ-170, registration C-FJBO performing flight AC-8638 from New York La Guardia,NY (New York) to Montreal,QC (Canada) with 58 people on board, was climbing through 10,000 feet out of La Guardia's runway 31 when the aircraft sustained a bird strike causing the first officer's windshield to shatter. The crew stopped the climb at about 13,000 feet, declared PAN PAN and returned to New York for a safe landing on La Guardia's runway 22 about 25 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.

The aircraft is still on the ground in La Guardia on Feb 23rd 2023.
