A KLM Embraer ERJ-175, registration PH-EXJ performing flight
KL-901 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Inverness,SC (UK), was on final approach to Inverness' runway 23 when the aircraft received a bird strike prompting the crew to initiate a go around from about 400 feet MSL. The aircraft climbed to 5000 feet, positioned for another approach to runway 23 and landed without further incident about 25 minutes after the go around.
The return flight was cancelled.
The aircraft remained on the ground for about 23 hours, then positioned to Cork (Ireland).
The airline confirmed the aircraft suffered a bird strike. Affected passengers were rebooked onto alternate flights.
On Aug 3rd 2024 The Aviation Herald received information, that the bird impacted and blocked the right hand dynamic port.
