A Lufthansa Airbus A319-100, registration D-AILD performing flight
LH-818 from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Gothenburg (Sweden), was climbing through FL330 out of Frankfurt when the crew stopped the climb and decided to divert to Hamburg (Germany) reporting smoke in the cabin. The aircraft landed safely on Hamburg's runway 05 about 14 minutes later.
The airline reported the smoke originated in the forward galley, a defective coffee maker was identified. The passengers were taken to their destination by another aircraft.
A replacement A320-200 registration D-AIZM reached Gothenburg with a delay of about 4.5 hours.
The occurrence aircraft returned to service after about 13 hours on the ground in Hamburg.
