A Lufthansa A340-300, registration D-AIFE performing flight LH-490 from Frankfurt (Germany) to Seattle,WA (USA), was enroute at FL320 over Greenland (Greenland) when the crew decided to turn around and return to Frankfurt due to the failure of one of their 4 engines (CFM56). The aircraft descended to FL310 for the return and landed safely back on Frankfurt's runway 07C with emergency services on stand by.

The flight was cancelled.

Passengers reported the captain announced an engine had failed. They are currently stuck in Frankfurt.
