A Lufthansa Cityline Canadair CRJ-900, registration D-ACNJ performing flight LH-1614 from Munich (Germany) to Warsaw (Poland), was climbing out of Munich's runway 08R when the crew reported strong vibrations from the nose gear during the departure roll. A subsequent runway inspection found tyre debris on the runway, which was identified to belong to a main tyre of the Canadair. The information was relayed to the crew, who stopped the climb at about 18,000 feet and decided to return to Munich and burn off fuel. A low pass to runway 08R about 70 minutes after departure confirmed main tyre #2 (left inboard main tyre) was damaged. The aircraft climbed to 5000 feet to position for another approach, landed safely on Munich's runway 08R about 80 minutes after departure and stopped on the runway. The aircraft was towed off the runway about 30 minutes after landing.
