A Plus Ultra Airbus A330-200, registration EC-NUL performing flight
PU-502 from Buenos Aires Ezeiza,BA (Argentina) to Madrid,SP (Spain), was enroute at FL370 about 400nm eastsoutheast of Natal,RN (Brazil) when the crew decided to divert to Natal due to an engine (CF6) problem. The aircraft landed safely on Natal's runway 12 about 80 minutes later.
Passengers reported there was a loud noise similiar to an explosion, the aircraft landed on one engine only.
The airline reported a technical problem covered by EASA procedures.
A replacement A330-200 registration registration EC-OAP is currently positioning from Madrid to Natal.
