A Swiss International Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration HB-JHI performing flight LX-22 from Geneva (Switzerland) to New York JFK,NY (USA), was climbing out of Geneva's runway 22 when the crew stopped the climb at FL220 reporting a hydraulic problem and decided to divert to Zurich (Switzerland). The aircraft burned off fuel and landed safely on Zurich's runway 34 about 2:15 hours after departure.

A replacement A330-300 registration HB-JHG reached New York with a delay of about 6.5 hours.

The airline reported the aircraft diverted to Zurich due to a warning indication regarding hydraulic fluid.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 24 hours after landing.
