A Westjet Boeing 737-700, registration C-GWBF performing flight
WS-1540 from Calgary,AB (Canada) to Houston Intercontinental,TX (USA), was enroute at FL370 nearing the top of descent when both flight directors failed and the crew received continuous altitude alerts. The crew declared emergency and was vectored for a safe landing on Intercontinental's runway 26L about 35 minutes later.
The aircraft remained on the ground in Houston for about 19.5 hours before returning to service.
The Canadian TSB reported the crew declared emergency due to equipment limitations.
