A Buddha Air Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration 9N-AJS performing flight U4-953 from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur (Nepal) with 72 passengers and 4 crew, was climbing out of Kathmandu when the left hand engine failed prompting the crew to level off at about 13000 feet and return to Kathmandu. The aircraft landed safely on Kathmandu's runway 02 about 40 minutes after departure.

A replacement ATR-72-212A registration 9N-AOC reached Bhadrapur with a delay of about 3:20 hours.
