An Air Canada Rouge Airbus A321-200, registration C-GJTX performing flight RV-1674 from Toronto,ON (Canada) to Orlando,FL (USA) with 202 people on board, was enroute near Columbia,SC (USA) when the crew received a message indicating a fault in the ELEC AC BUS 1 followed by ELEC GEN 1 FAULT and BLUE HYD SYS messages. Autopilot and Autothrottle automatically disconnected, the captain side PFD and ND briefly failed but came back online. The crew declared PAN PAN and activated the APU to establish redundancy again. The crew continued to Orlando, requested the longest runway available and performed a safe landing on runway 18L.
The Canadian TSB reported: "The nature of the failure resulted in the loss of a number of associated systems including: SPLR3, L/R/ TK PUMP 1, ALTN BRK, AUTO BRK, and REVERSER 1." Emergency services inspected the aircraft after landing with no fault found, the aircraft taxied to the apron.
The aircraft returned to service about 53 hours after landing.
