EW-2758 from Stuttgart (Germany) to Vienna (Austria) with 106 people on board, was enroute at FL310 about 90nm east of Stuttgart when the crew decided to return to Stuttgart for a safe landing on runway 25 about 45 minutes after departure.
The airline reported the aircraft was already airborne when it was hit by lightning. The aircraft returned to Stuttgart as a precaution.
The rotation was cancelled.
The aircraft returned to service about 34 hours after landing.
