An Iberia Airbus A350-900, registration EC-OCR performing flight
IB-6400 from Mexico City (Mexico) to Madrid,SP (Spain), departed Mexico City's runway 05R when a tyre tread separated and damaged a rear door. The aircraft continued to Madrid for a safe landing about 9 hours after departure.
The aircraft remained on the ground in Madrid until Oct 30th 2024 before returning to service.
Mexico's AIB rated the occurrence a serious incident and opened an investigation.
