A Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-DWK performing flight
FR-2037 from Palma Mallorca,SP (Spain) to Dortmund (Germany) with 181 passengers and 6 crew, was on final approach to Dortmund's runway 24 when the crew initiated a go around at about 1000 feet AGL due to problems with the flaps. The crew decided to divert to Munster (Germany, about 37nm north of Dortmund), which features a longer runway (2170 meters instead of 2000 meters), and landed safely on Munster's runway 25 at a slightly higher than normal speed about 30 minutes later.
The aircraft remained on the ground for about 5 hours before positioning to London Stansted,EN (UK). The aircraft returned to service the following morning about 18.5 hours after landing in Munster.
