A SAS Scandinavian Airlines Airbus A320-200N, registration SE-ROZ performing flight SK-4546 from Oslo to Alta (Norway), was on final approach to Alta's runway 29 when in the flare the crew spotted a flock of birds ahead over the runway and initiated a go around. Climbing with the engines accelerating the crew could not avoid the right hand engine (LEAP) to ingest a sea gull. The aircraft climbed to 3000 feet, positioned for another approach to runway 29 and landed without further incident about 8 minutes later.

The aircraft was unable to depart for the return flight, the flight was cancelled.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Alta about 19 hours after landing.
