A THY Turkish Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration TC-JPH performing flight
TK-2320 from Istanbul to Izmir (Turkey), was enroute, unclear whether at FL270 or FL290, just after meal service when the crew turned the fasten seat belt signs on, seconds later the aircraft encountered turbulence causing a flight attendant, just 2 months into her job, to be thrown against the aircraft cabin and to fall down again resulting in the fracture of a vertebra. The aircraft landed safely in Izmir, the flight attendant was taken to a hospital.
The return flight reached Istanbul with a delay of about 3 hours.
The hospital reported a spinal fracture confirming one of the vertebrae was broken.
